Type 1 Pregnancy: Third Trimester
The home stretch!!! A.K.A The Third Trimester 😍
The closer we get to our due date, the more excited we are for our little Theo to make his grand entrance! With appointments twice a week to make sure my blood sugars are in check and babe is doing great during our NST testing it’s made for a very busy trimester.
The third trimester for me has been very similar to my second trimester symptoms wise (which was a breeze!) So I find myself to be very lucky to be avoiding the somewhat unpleasant symptoms of the third trimester. I personally have enjoyed the third trimester; especially the exciting things we got to check off our checklist such as our baby shower, finishing his nursery, completing our Hypnobirthing classes, hospital tour, infant CPR, buying the rest of the baby essentials, cleaning and prepping everything for babe and more!
Here I will share a list of the symptoms I’ve experienced during my third trimester, I’ll share other common symptoms most women have, as well as leave you with some tips for surviving the last trimester before baby arrives!
My Symptoms:
Insulin resistance in full force.
Upper back aches by the end of the day (most days!)
Growing belly!
Less intense jabs and kicks with baby having less and less room.
Smaller appetite.
Nesting for sure.
CLEANING MODE!
Hello hormones- happy, sad, mad, anxious, emotions are a roller coaster.
Sleeping comfortably is impossible.
Other common third trimester symptoms:
Swelling.
Insomnia.
Restless leg syndrome.
Leg cramps.
Back and hip pain.
Increase bathroom stops, still.
Lightheadedness.
What symptoms have you been experiencing in your third trimester?
Theo Joseph, we can’t wait to meet you!
Third Trimester Tips
Prepare meals to freeze for when baby comes. This was something I am so glad we did! We took an entire day creating 8-10 different kinds of meals and snacks to freeze. Precut veggies and more! So helpful and I would definitely do this again.
Quality time with your love! Go for date nights as much as possible. Go to the movies. Out to dinner. Talk to each other and enjoy your time together just you and your partner.
Read and Listen to Podcasts together. The Happiest Baby book, Nuture, Newborn 101, Podfathers Podcast, other parenting podcasts.
Clean your house! Clean, organize, de clutter. I almost opted to hiring someone to do this for me, but I am so glad I did it myself. We took an entire day to get our entire house deep cleaned. Clean and organize baby’s clothes and things. It felt really good to do ourselves!
Stay Hydrated. REMINDER: Have you drank enough water today?
REST: Go take a nap, draw yourself a bath, read a book outside, lay on the couch and watch your favorite show, CHILL!
Take a Breastfeeding course and read Ina May’s Guide to Breastfeeding book.
Put together postpartum kits and breastfeeding kits around your home.
Educate yourself with birth + Create your birth plan. You do not have to do anything you don’t want to do at the hospital, and same goes for your baby. Educate yourself on your options, on your hospitals ‘protocols’ and have clear expectations of what you want during your labor and delivery and once baby is here.
Treat Yourself! Get a pedicure, get a haircut, but yourself some comfy postpartum clothing, take some maternity photos, go see a movie by yourself, etc. Baby will be here before you know it!
Good luck mamas!
You got this!
